The appearance of my website http://www.towerwatch.com is a little outdated and navigation is awkward so I am in the process of giving it a complete face lift.
The process will take some time but when I am done TowerWatch will be on another account I own. I have wanted to move my website for some time now since one account is obviously cheaper than two  and this seems like the best time to do so.

This forum is part of that website and I am not sure I have the needed skills to move the forum and keep it intact. I am in the process of getting an estimate for professionals moving it and will do that if it is not too costly.

If I can not move the forum myself and it proves too costly to hire it done we have two choices:

One, shut the forum down and not have one on the new site.
Two, shut the forum down and start a new one on the new site.

Things have been very slow on the forum as of late so I wanted to get some feed back from you folks so I know how to proceed.

Cal, I was expecting some of the ex-jw's members to reply to your post a bit sooner, however,I would regret if we lost the Discussion Board as it has helped me to, understand a little about the Organization, but I do understand your position/situation, and will remember you in prayer.

Hi Cal,
Even though I haven't been posting much, I would hate to see the forum discontinued. I do read the posts frequently. Life has just gotten in the way. I understand the expence though. Ultimately it is your choice.

OK folks here is what I am thinking, just a thought at this point. First, recreating the web site with the new look is taking much more time than I anticipated. This account is paid up until July and I should have the new web site done long before then. A new wrinkle has come into play and that is computer bots bugging me with a dozen or so registrations per day so they can advertise their drug and porno sites etc. I have solved that problem by simply shutting down self registration and asking folks to email me and let me register them. This solves the bot problem but it slows the growth of the forum.

Here is my thinking and I would appreciate any input from you folks. I should have the new web site up and going in a month or so, we could start a new forum then and keep this one active until it expires in July. This would give us time to make a gradual transition to the new forum and eliminate the problem of moving all of the posts and member information etc, this would also solve the bot problem at least for a while because we would have the latest technology to stop bots and we would be in a new location on the web.

PLEASE let me know what you think.

I am all for it. I do understand the bot problems. I work for another site and we have had scammers to the point we had to revamp our website. The idea of emailing you in order to register is a very good idea and it does cut down the undesireable scammers. I am still interested in being a member of this wonderful and informative site.

Thank you for the reply. I have been calling them spammers but I guess the correct term is scammers, maybe that is why my spell checker does not like the word spammers. Regardless of what we call them they are a problem.

Thanks again for your input.

:thankyou4:
