Sharing the Gospel

How You Can Help Jehovah’s Witnesses

What do you do when Jehovah’s Witnesses knock at your door? What do you say to a Jehovah’s Witness relative, workmate, or schoolmate? Unfortunately, there is no magic formula for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Jehovah’s Witnesses. I wish I had a magic formula to give you to help Jehovah’s Witnesses see that they are being misled. It seems like there should be one; show them John 1:1; for example, it is evident that Jesus is God, but it is not that simple. Jehovah’s Witnesses’ minds have been trained to understand the scriptures according to the Watchtower interpretations. Keep in mind the Watchtower Society has had over 100 years to perfect its training methods. Such influence can not be undone in one or two conversations.

In the years since I left the Watchtower Organization, I have spoken with many who have left the Witnesses. Nearly everyone said they left because of various seeds of doubt planted wittingly or unwittingly by Christians. These seeds caused them to doubt the accuracy of a teaching or the organization itself, seeds that grew over time. A frontal assault will not work. They have been trained to close their minds to your words, and they are equipped to refute your argument.

I would not attempt to tell you how to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with Jehovah’s Witnesses. Each of us has developed a witnessing style that fits our personality and comfort zone. Instead, I have included some do’s and don’ts, key points, and questions to keep in mind when sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Jehovah’s Witnesses.
